Building For a Better Education

Building Schools for children in Busia, Kenya.

Pitch

The project is building elementary schools for girls and boys in Busia, Kenya to get a better education and to strive for their dreams.  Busia has a large population of 743,946 and 48.4% of young adults. Their unemployment rate is 6.0% . What this project means to me ? This project is very important because I want to give an education to both genders, most of the time boys are more likely to go to school because the girls stay home and do chores. I think its better for both genders to get an education so they can have a bigger, brighter, future. Goals I want to achieve from this project would be to gain education in students and help choose what career goals they would like to pursue in the future.

Critical Need

Busia's poverty rate is 66% and literacy rate is 59%. I think with a better education we can provide these children with a better job. With a better job they can help their families live a better life with proper housing, enough food, clothing and providing more knowledge to them.
Some of these families are too poor to keep their children longer than grade 6, with my school families will be able to keep their child in school from grade 1-8.

Impact

These students that attend the school will show the world, just because you live in poverty does not mean you don't have the right to learn, to get an education and to fight for your dreams. I also think this will inspire other countries to provide more school for villages that can't support their children to go for schooling.

Feasibility

This project will be about an year to build and finish. Year to start building would be 2014-2015. Businesses that will help provide a start to the project would be WetoMe and Crayola. WetoMe will help provide material to build the school and crayola is help funding the school supplies. They would help fund this project because they are two large companies that love making a difference and change. I think its important for students to know how to use computers since technology expands in life.

  1. Great job on your blog! I think the highlighting of the titles really tied it together and gave the blog a more organized look. I thought that the layout of your feasibility paragraph was great and the specificity of the costs really gives you an idea of the project and financial need. The images are really awesome and positive and give your blog a great positive connotation. The numbers you used especially in your pitch give an image to the reader of how serious your project is and it ties well together with your critical need.
    Good work!
